outside again

The wolves have returned
Curled, skulking outside in the darkness
The doors will not keep them out
When we lay together they dared not
Could not touch us
Could not even come near
But now my flesh is food
Pink and weak and tender meat
Where are you now?
How did you leave without
My knowledge, my heart
The blood bearing your imprint
The memory inside the bones
My heartsick hearing of their calls
Says what lips cannot
The wolves have returned
And I miss you terribly
So sad how they howl
